Rhyme And Reason

Amit Gurbaxani – MumbaiBoss.com

“So when we heard about a new hip hop “band”, we were cautiously optimistic. But as we look back at 2010, Bombay Bassment was perhaps Indian indie music’s most pleasant surprise of the last 12 months. A group that by their own description is closer to The Roots than to 50 Cent…”

Indiecision Staff

“Bombay/Mumbai has its share of wannabe hip hoppers, but Bombay Bassment proved that the city was also home to the genuine article. Bombay Basement aren’t a collective of MCs with laptops…”

Aditi Sharma – Mid DAY

“The festival includes two bands from the Red Bull Bedroom Jam — Blakc and Bombay Bassment, three international acts –Max Clouth Trio and Glitterbug+Ronni Shendar from Germany and Tribu Zulu from Italy — as well as The Pulp Society, Something Relevant and Axtortion.”

Mumbai Mirror Bureau – Mumbai Mirror, Times of India

“The new band that is making waves, Bombay Bassment will play their unique blend of hip-hop, reggae/dub, funk and drum ‘n’ bass next.”

Music For The Tilted Generation

Editor – Mumbai Boss

But the act we’re looking forward to seeing the most is hip hop quartet Bombay Bassment. The band, which comprises rapper Bob Omulo, drummer Levin Mendes, bassist Ruell Barretto and DJ Chandrashekhar “Chandu” Kunder, has been consistently impressing audiences with their on-stage energy and party-starting vibe at their performances at the Stupid Ditties album launch at Bonobo in November, and at NH7 Weekender in Pune earlier this month.

The Tilt Music Festival Announced

Indiecision Staff – NH7.in/Indiecision

“Tis the season for music festivals. Sandwiched between the Bacardi NH7 Weekender and Sunburn, Mumbai venue Blue Frog has announced a two day music festival called The Tilt, “for the inclined”. The event will feature international and local bands – German jazz act Max Clouth Trio, Mumbai hiphop band and Bacardi NH7 Weekender contest slot winners Bombay Bassment”
