Back to Roots

Although we shot the (debut) video of our 1st single Hip Hop [Never Be The Same] with modest target of Youtube, it is been very overwhelming to see our low budget D.I.Y. video has  been on national television, first it was premiered on VH1 India Rules and now we are celebrating in anticipation of the video premiere on MTV Roots.

Since the video’s launch earlier this year, it has been aired on VH1 where although it was initially intended to run for only 10 days on VH1 India Rules, it is still aired to date, three months later on VH1 Hit Factory.

Shot on a modest budget (INR 9.5K to be precise) by our emcee & first time directors Bobcat and Akshit at locations in Kurla (West) and in Versova with help from many volunteers. Since its debut, it has drawn mixed reactions from viewers, but co director and cinematographer Bob is certainly flying high and not at all fazed by the reactions – he feels

“This is a victory for all independent and unsigned artists. We shot this thing for Youtube, and now it shares a platform with multi lakh budget videos on TV, made by seasoned directors with all state of the art production technology and equipment, so imagine what we’d do if we had all that”.

The ‘Hip Hop [Never Be The Same]video goes on air on MTV this Friday at 8.30 PM on MTV Roots program.

No one ever imagined that our video will get national television premiere when our emcee Bobkat decided to shoot video for our single Hip Hop [Never Be The Same] with a shoe string budget of INR 10K.

Hip Hop [Never Be The Same] video will premiere on VH1 India Rules starting 18th April for 10 days with 5 rotations each day.

This video was Bobkat’s first independent project as director, producer & editor with assistance from his friend Akshit.

We sincerely thank VH1 crew for giving us such massive platform on national television and we truly feel that Indian Hip Hop now is never going to be same!!!

About Vh1 India Rules

Vh1 India Rules is a Vh1 platform exclusively for Indian musicians to make themselves heard.

Vh1 India Rules promotes Indian artists who have established a reputation for themselves within the nation as well as Internationally. It is also currently the only platform where Indian international artists (non-bollywood) can get maximum exposure on a national level, since no one is currently supporting budding talent.

P.S.: Don’t forget to cast your vote and help Bombay Bassment to head out on the tour of a lifetime!

I.C. Carnival, organized by I.C. Colony Welfare Association in it’s 28th Year is just getting bigger. This annual event is probably one of Mumbai’s longest running & most popular community gathering.

This time they hosted LIVE performances apart from other entertainment activities like Float Parade, Sporting Events, Treasure Hunt etc. over 2 days – 5th & 6th March.

Hip-Hop [Never Be The Same]

Bombay Bassment’s 1st Video Project produced, directed & edited by emcee Bobkat

Bobkat created this D.I.Y – home grown video with a minuscule budget of 10k…let us know if you need any tips from Bobkat!

We are very excited to announce that our video which we shot a month ago (you watched the sneak peek few weeks back) is finally ready and will be premiered on Mumbai’s Hip Hop Temple (read website)

According to the directors Bobcat (our eemcee / frontman of the band) & Akshit, it took slightly longer than expected because it was a first for them directing a hip hop video with a Mumbai touch and feel to it, and also on an extremely economical budget.

Bobcat who edited it also took his time trying to make the best of the shots that he had.

The video which features the band and various aspiring models, dancers and actors was shot at locations in Versova and Kurla where the band’s emcee and DJ rep.

Tuesday  at the stroke of midnight, log onto on Thursday for the premiere of the video.
